I had business case where specifications need customer to have Canvas Apps and Dataverse functionalities, but there was no intention to update all organization users with D365 or Power Apps license. Dataverse for Teams (DV4T) allows you to enable these functionalities with limitations. But first you need to setup your first solution by creating the Canvas App and then creating a solution and adding the app inside it.
Create one team where development is done. Team is one environment, use the same logic as normal projects when you put these – though since these applications might be quite small use one development environment and split solutions into different channels.
1. Create Teams team which you want to use as the development environment.
2. Go to Teams, select Apps, write Power Apps and click Open.
3. Select Start now or New app, and choose your development environment (team).
4. Wait until you get the email or Teams notification.
5. Click the notification or the link in the email (if you are in development tenant and want to create the app in browser, click the Use web app instead).
6. Repeat step 3 (choose the team again) and then you get dialogue. Give your app a name and save it (top right corner save icon).
7. Go to maker-portal. Click Power Apps application, select Build tab, then three dots and Open in Power Apps. Once it opens, you might want to save the favorite (url) in your browser to come here faster.
8. Choose New solution, create New publisher with your organization or team name, give other information and press Create
9. Click Add existing and select Canvas App. Choose your app and add it to the solution
Now you are all setup and ready for trying manual lifecycle management for DV4T solutions. Please read the blog next blog post about ALM for DV4T.
