Tarvis Privacy Policy
Tarvis (“the app”) is a companion app developed by Karl-Johan Spiik that enables hands-free voice conversations with the official Teams app, in the language you choose in the app’s settings. This policy describes what data the app processes and how.
What data is processed
Voice (microphone). While listening is active, your speech is sent to the Android operating system’s speech recognition service (typically Google’s) to be converted to text. Tarvis itself does not record or transmit audio to any server of its own — the app has no backend server.
On-screen content (Accessibility service). Tarvis reads text visible on the Teams app’s screen to detect its replies, and types your recognized speech into the Teams app’s input field. This happens entirely on-device, within the same process — this data is not sent to any external service by Tarvis.
Diagnostics log. The app writes technical log lines (e.g. speech recognition error codes) to the device’s own app-private storage for troubleshooting. This log never leaves the device unless the user explicitly copies it to the clipboard and shares it themselves.
No accounts, no analytics. Tarvis does not require its own user account and contains no advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking.
Permissions requested and why
Microphone — Speech recognition
Display over other apps — The floating mascot UI
Accessibility service — Reading Teams’s replies and typing speech into its input field
Notifications — Shows listening/muted status as a background-service notification
Third parties
Speech recognition uses the Android operating system’s default speech recognition service (typically Google), which is subject to that provider’s own privacy policy. Tarvis itself does not share data with any other third party.
Data retention
The app does not permanently store the content of your speech or Teams’s replies. The only data stored on-device is the technical diagnostics log (size-capped, oldest content dropped automatically) and your chosen voice preference.
